1 July 2025: Big changes are here

Whether you're working, retired, studying, training or a parent-to-be, here's what you need to know.

Power bill relief

Every household and around one million small businesses will get $150 off their power bills.

This will be automatically credited to household energy accounts. Check if your small business is eligible here.

Pay rises

Every worker on a minimum wage or award wage contract is getting a 3.5% pay rise.

This is a real pay rise above inflation that we advocated the Fair Work Commission for.

Since Labor formed government in 2022, the annual National Minimum Wage has increased by $9,120.

Find your Award and pay rise.

Superannuation

The minimum rate of super (Superannuation Guarantee) has now risen to 12%

Support for students

Paid Pracs are now available for eligible nursing, teaching, social work and midwifery students.

Placement poverty shouldn't stop the next generation of nurses, teachers, social workers and midwives from qualifying.

Check your eligibility for the Commonwealth Prac Payment and how to apply.

Support for apprentices

A $10,000 bonus is now available for housing construction and clean energy apprentices who apply from 1 July 2025. This is on top of usual wages.

Check which trades are eligible and how to apply.

Cheaper home batteries

Households installing home electric batteries for rooftop solar will get a 30% discount.

The state and federal governments are working together so Western Australians can now save up to $7,500 and access up to $10,000 in interest-free loans.

We want more people to have access to permanently cheaper power bills.

New parents

Paid Parental Leave has risen again to 24 weeks.

We're paying superannuation on Paid Parental Leave for the first time in history.

Early parenthood is a special time. Greater financial security and flexibility is good for parents and good for kids.

Check how new parents can share 24 weeks of Paid Parental Leave and get superannuation from the ATO.

Small businesses

We increased the instant asset write off for small businesses from $1,000 to $20,000.

The $20,000 Instant Asset Write Off has been extended for another year to support small businesses to grow, invest and prosper.

Women's health

Four new Medicare items have been added to support longer consult times and higher rebates for specialised gynaecological care.

New menopause, perimenopause and early menopause health assessments are now available under Medicare.
